Hypno-Massage Doula (About Brenda)(hypno-birthing)

A Hypno-Massage Doula:

  • provides physical comfort measures that go far beyond standard doula care with massage therapy designed to relieve the discomforts of labor and relax mom.  Labor massage will assist the baby in moving down the birth canal more quickly and easily to the outside world.
  • provides relaxation techniques that take mom and dad into a totally relaxed, positive atmosphere in the birthing room
  • provides emotional support, and information before, during and after childbirth to assist with making good decisions
  • does not replace the partner's role in childbirth.  She supports the partner to love and encourage the laboring mother
  • supports the mother's decisions and does not force her own viewpoint
  • recognizes birth as a key life experience that the mother will remember all her life
  • understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor
  • assists the woman and her partner in preparing for and carrying out their plans for the birth
  • stays by the side of the laboring woman throughout the entire labor
  • facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and clinical care providers
  • perceives her role as one who nurtures and protects the woman's memory of her birth experience
  • work in homes, hospitals and birth centers

Medical research shows that women who use a doula have:

  • 40% decrease need for forceps

  • 50% decrease cesarean rate

  • 60% decrease epidural request

  • 30% decrease pain medication    

  • 25% decrease length of labor   

Labor & Delivery

      During your labor and delivery I provide:

  • Phone support until couple wishes me to join them in labor
  • Help facilitate communication between staff and couple if necessary
  • Continuous emotional and physical support including:
  • Labor massage, foot reflexology, aromatherapy, hypnosis
  • Use of showers and Jacuzzi
  • Music and relaxation video's (ocean, sunsets, fireplace, fish aquarium)
  • Information about the labor/birth process and what to expect
  • Various position changes to help with the labor progress
  • Remain with clients after birth for approximate one hour to assist with breastfeed if needed
